Study Overview
Cartilage is a flexible connective tissue found in joints between bones, where it acts as a shock absorber and reduces friction to facilitate smooth bodily movement. It is composed of specialized cells known as chondrocytes, which produce and maintain the surrounding extracellular matrix. Substances that improve chondrocyte function may lead to cartilage function improvement as well.

In this test, we evaluate test substances on either human or rabbit chondrocytes cultured in a two-dimensional arrangement. Testing on chondrocytes arranged in a 3D matrix is also possible. Please contact us for a discussion.
By measuring hyaluronic acid and mucopolysaccharides production, we are able to understand how test substances influence cartilage function.
