Pulmonary function improvement study (relief of pneumonia symptoms)

Study Overview

Bacterial pneumonia is caused by inflammatory cytokines produced by lung cells when bacteria invade the alveoli. One possible way to alleviate symptoms is to inhibit the production of inflammatory cytokines.

In this study, lung cells will be used to verify the anti-inflammatory effects of the test substance.

Study example

Inflammatory cytokines were induced by treatment with LPS (a bacterial cell wall component), and the anti-inflammatory effects (inhibition of cytokine production) of the test substances were evaluated under these conditions. Test substances B and C were found to have an inhibitory effect on inflammatory cytokine production.

Basic Experimental design

Cells usedHuman lung adenocarcinoma-derived cells (A549), etc.
Preliminary studyCytotoxicity assay
Main studyLive cell count measurement, inflammatory cytokine measurement (with LPS addition)

*Studies will be mainly conducted by those with doctoral degrees.
