Study Overview
Allergens like pollen or food trigger mast cells to release histamine through degranulation, causing inflammation. By inhibiting these allergic reactions, the severity of inflammatory symptoms can be reduced. As such, substances that possess this quality can improve symptoms related to allergic reactions.
In this study, we measured the amount of free histamines produced by rat mast cells. This allows us to understand if a test substance is able to inhibit histamine release.
