Study Overview
Fat cells come in two types: white and brown. White fat cells store calories as triglycerides, while brown fat cells burn excess calories to produce heat. Recent research suggests that white fat cells can be converted into energy-consuming cells similar to brown fat, a discovery with significant implications for weight loss. Substances capable of converting white fat cells into brown fat cells are currently sought after as weight-loss treatments.
This assay is designed to evaluate substances that are capable of converting white fat cells into brown fat-like cells.
