Lipolysis promotion study (anti-obesity effect)

Study Overview

Lipolysis is the biological process where neutral fats (triglycerides) stored within fat cells (adipocytes) are broken down into fatty acids and glycerol. This metabolic pathway is primarily triggered when the body requires extra energy, such as during fasting, exercise, or exposure to cold. Substances that are capable of inducing or promoting lipolysis are sought after as anti-obesity drugs.

This assay is intended to evaluate functional substances that are to induce lipolysis, thereby inducing weight loss. Substances will be tested in adipocytes that have already undergone differentiation. To determine the extent of lipolysis, glycerol is measured as a readout.

Study example
