Protein expression analysis using Simple Western (Jess)

Study Overview

Western blotting is a laboratory technique used to detect and analyze specific proteins within a complex mixture by separating them by molecular weight using gel electrophoresis, transferring them to a membrane, and identifying them with targeted antibodies. The Simple Western Jess is an automated, capillary-based system that modernizes this process by eliminating manual gels and transfers, instead performing protein separation, immunoprobe labeling, washing, and quantitative analysis entirely inside a capillary system.

Traditional Western blotting typically requires 20-40 µL of sample and takes 1 to 2 days to complete. In contrast, the Simple Western Jess system requires as little as 3 µL of sample volume and delivers fully analyzed results in approximately 3 hours. This allows you to perform more experiments with a limited sample volume with a much faster turnaround.

Supplementary services

Protein expression analysis using the Simple western service is just one part of the whole experimental service suite we offer. We are able to provide custom-made cell-based assay services, cell culture, administration of test substances followed by protein expression. Feel free to contact us for more information.

Features of the Simple Western System Jess

Simple Western analysis automates all steps from protein separation, antibody detection, and data analysis, enabling highly quantitative data to be obtained with good reproducibility.

Furthermore, the Jess system we have implemented allows for fluorescence detection in addition to chemiluminescence detection. By using the fluorescence detection function to measure proteins in multiplex, you can obtain a large amount of information from a single analysis. The Jess system’s unique protein normalization method enables highly reliable quantification.
